Serves 6 to 8 people
Plums
900g plums, cut in half and stones removed
150g granulated or brown sugar
15 gr unsalted butter
Crumble
250g plain flour
150g unsalted cold butter
160g granulated, brown or caster sugar
Method:
Preheat the oven to 190C.
Wash the plums, cut them in half and remove the stones.
Grease an ovenproof dish with butter. Put the plum in the dish, sprinkle with sugar.
Now prepare the crumble: in a bowl, rub together the flour, the sugar and the cold butter cut into cubes. The butter needs to be cold to make a crumble and not a dough. Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the plum mixture and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, until the topping is golden-brown.
Little tips:
You can use or mix different types of sugar (Muscovado, Demerara…).
To bring some taste to the plum mixture, you can add the juice of ½ a lemon on the plums or ½ tsp of cinnamon or vanilla and you can bring your own touch to the crumble mixture and replace 25% of the flour with rolled porridge oats or ground almonds… Don’t hesitate to add cinnamon and/or nutmeg!
Serve the crumble with ice cream, custard or crème fraiche!
